Oh, goodness, how I love Christmas. I definitely have some rambling to do about garbage this Christmas season, but right now, there are many gifts to be wrapped. The short story is – I gave myself two weeks off. I have still consumed, and thrown out, a whole heck of a lot less than I did last year. Absolutely. But I just went off the rails with Christmas gifts. Not that I even bought that many, but the majority have packaging, which I’ve been so good at avoiding these last few months, and I just couldn’t go so far as to subject my kids to a packaging-free Christmas this year. So… we’ll have a full recycling box next week, and I think I can live with that. Back on track, though, after the final Christmas celebration on January 2nd!

In other news… I had my first ever garbage-less menstrual cycle – yippee!! No need for details, really (unless you want ‘em!), suffice to say that my DivaCup is a smash hit, and I’ve never felt better about my period. NO. GARBAGE. It’s life-changing.

There was another garbage victory recently, but it slips my mind right now (could be the wine…).

My birthday roller skates arrived today, and I’m chomping at the bit to get skating! I went out briefly on the street this afternoon – I need a lot of practice, but there is something so joyful about lurching around on those eight wheels; I think they are the best birthday present ever – thank you, boys!

Our school’s population grew so much this year, we couldn’t all fit in the school gym, so our concert was relocated to the gorgeous Sydenham Street United Church – beautiful!

Trust me, even if you’d been there, the lyrics and tune would not have been much clearer than this. Watch for Leo’s giant yawn, which was one of his major contributions to the song.
